Although the official agenda is dedicated to the Donald Trump administration's $1.5 trillion budget request, the main goal of the Democrats is to criticize Hegset for starting a war without the consent of Congress. Republicans, while maintaining support for the leadership, demand a quick end to the conflict and transparency.
In addition, on the eve of the hearings, a group of Democrats demanded an investigation into the deaths of six servicemen in Kuwait, accusing Hegset of misleading the public.
