Isaac Herzog has proposed an out-of-court settlement regarding the corruption case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Modern.az reports that Herzog invited Netanyahu and prosecutors to negotiations, stating that his goal was to resolve the case before it reached court. The presidential administration has asked the parties to respond to this proposal by Sunday.
According to the information, this step was taken a few days after Herzog stated that he would not decide on Netanyahu's pardon request alone and would call on the parties to reach an agreement. The president noted that all possibilities must be exhausted before the issue of pardon is considered.
It should be noted that Netanyahu had previously applied for a halt to the court proceedings, stating that dropping the charges would strengthen unity in the country.
It should be recalled that US President Donald Trump has also called on Herzog several times to end the court proceedings.
