The administration of US President Donald Trump has proposed a new 25% punitive tariff on many products imported from Brazil.
Modern.az reports that the US Trade Representative (USTR) announced this. The reason for the punishment was justified by Brazil's unfair activities in the field of digital trade and illegal deforestation.
In addition, measures implemented under "Article 301" also cover areas such as electronic payments, intellectual property, and the ethanol market. However, beef, coffee, rare metals, and aircraft parts have been excluded from the new tariffs. These tariffs will partially replace the 50% tariffs applied last year.
It should be noted that 40% of the previous tariff was imposed as a punishment for the judicial prosecution of Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil's former president and Trump's ally.
