The Kuwaiti authorities have decided to reduce the number of employees of the Iranian embassy and expel two Iranian diplomats from the country in connection with the attack on the international airport.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.
According to the information, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait summoned Iran's temporary charge d'affaires in the country to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented him with an official note of protest.
The document noted that the decision to reduce the number of employees of the Iranian embassy and declare two diplomats “persona non grata” was included. Those diplomats were instructed to leave the territory of Kuwait within 24 hours.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this step was taken in response to attacks on civilian objects, including the international airport, with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. One person died and dozens were injured as a result of the attack.
Earlier, the Kuwaiti General Directorate of Civil Aviation announced that the T1 passenger terminal of the international airport was attacked by missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, one person died as a result of the strike, and serious material damage was also caused. Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India stated that the deceased person was an Indian citizen.
According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, at least 63 people, including airport employees and passengers, received injuries of varying degrees.
