The governor of St. Petersburg called on city residents to stay indoors, while Russian officials announced that a large-scale UAV attack had been carried out against the region.
Modern.az reports that St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov stated that the city was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles, but did not disclose the number of drones involved in the attack.
According to Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of the Leningrad region, a total of 86 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over the region.
Monitoring channels close to Ukraine claim that Russian military facilities were hit during the attacks. The reports state that strikes were carried out on the Kronstadt military port, which is part of St. Petersburg, as well as on the 15th arsenal of the Russian Navy located in the town of Bolshaya Izhora.
It is reported that both facilities play an important role in the supply system of Russia's Baltic Fleet.
