The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has included electric vehicle manufacturer BYD in its list of companies linked to the Chinese military.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that online retail giant Alibaba and search engine Baidu have also been added to the relevant registry.
Alibaba and Baidu have denied claims of having ties to "Chinese military companies."
It should be noted that the Pentagon has been publishing this list since 2021. The US Department of Defense is prohibited from cooperating with brands included in the registry.
According to experts, inclusion in this list signals to investors that restrictions against these companies may be expanded in the future.
For example, shares of Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi, which was previously included in this list, lost 11 percent of their value. Later, Xiaomi succeeded in having its name removed from the registry through legal action.
