“Currently, no discussions about positions have been held between me and Nikol Pashinyan, and there is no agreement on any issue.”

Modern.az reports that Alen Simonyan, the chairman of the current convocation of the Armenian parliament, said this in a conversation with journalists on July 2, touching upon his future political career.

“I operate in politics only within the framework of the 'Civil Contract' party and I am in politics only on the basis of the logic of cooperation with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. I do not see myself in any political process without Nikol Pashinyan,” Simonyan emphasized.

In response to a question about whether his decision not to take a deputy mandate was a sign of resentment, Simonyan denied it:

“I have a political path that I have already taken. I have been a member of the Yerevan Council of Elders, I have been a deputy, and I highly value the institution of deputy. I don't think this is an expression of resentment. This is my personal decision.”

When asked why the “Civil Contract” team made such a decision regarding him, he replied:

“The members of the Board are authorized representatives of the party's supreme p, they hold high positions and have gone through a certain political path. Their decision is exactly this at the moment. Therefore, I believe it is not right to enter into a discussion on this topic.”

Regarding the possibility of leaving the “Civil Contract” party, Simonyan said:

“I am one of the founders of this party. I am part of the political process and will continue to be part of the political process. I will be with my friends as long as I can serve, as long as they need me. If there is any option or proposal, I will consider it.”
