The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has tightened its travel recommendations regarding Russia and called on its citizens to immediately leave Russian territory.

Modern.az reports that this was noted in the updated security warning of the institution.

While the warning previously mainly concerned border regions with Ukraine, the new recommendations now cover the entire territory of Russia. The Ministry stated that the risk of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks remains on Russian territory.

The information notes that Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Leningrad region have become more frequent targets of drone attacks in recent months.

“Despite the strengthening of air defense systems around Moscow, drone attacks and the falling of their debris have in some cases caused serious damage,” the statement emphasized.

Berlin named Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, and Rostov regions, as well as Krasnodar Krai, as the most dangerous regions.

The Ministry states that against the backdrop of the ongoing war, the security situation can change rapidly and risks can increase in a short time. Warnings were also issued about interruptions in aviation connections within Russia, restrictions on airport operations, flight delays, and cancellations. Interruptions in fuel supply may also occur in some regions.

The document notes that security risks are not limited to military threats. German citizens, as well as those with dual citizenship, have been warned about the risk of arbitrary detention and limited consular support. Those remaining in Russian territory are advised to stay away from crowded places, follow official security information, and register in the crisis notification system called ELEFAND.

At the same time, it was recalled that the US State Department also assessed the travel risk for Russia at the highest level – level 4 – at the end of last year. Washington advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Russia, and those in the country to leave immediately. The US side cited the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, strict enforcement of legislation, risk of detention, and threat of terrorism as the main risks.
