Fighters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) neutralized a group of armed men in the West Azerbaijan province, located in northwestern Iran.
Modern.az reports with reference to IRIB agency that this information was disseminated based on a statement from the ground forces headquarters at the IRGC's "Hamza Seyid ash-Shuhada" base.
According to the publication, the IRGC set up an ambush in the highlands of Mahabad and Piranshahr districts. As a result of the shootout, which also involved artillery support, an armed group of 6 people was destroyed. Weapons and ammunition were also seized in the battle.
Earlier the same day, it was reported that two IRGC members were killed and two others wounded in an attack by armed men in the city of Pave, Kermanshah province, located in the west of the country. Iran's military wing characterized the incident as a terrorist act.
