UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned attacks on civilian targets in Iran amid rising tensions between the US and Iran.
Modern.az reports that UN official representative Farhan Haq informed about this.
According to him, Antonio Guterres is seriously concerned about the further escalation of the situation in the region and considers attacks against civilian infrastructure unacceptable.
"The Secretary-General is particularly concerned about attacks on civilian targets in Iran and other countries in the region. Strikes on civilian infrastructure are unacceptable," Farhan Haq said.
It is noted that the UN chief's statement came after Tehran accused the US of damaging the country's transport and other civilian infrastructure.
Guterres called on the parties to exercise restraint and emphasized the importance of preventing a new escalation in the region.
