Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners: 103 servicemen released

After a break of approximately two months, another prisoner exchange took place between Russia and Ukraine, and 103 Ukrainian servicemen were released from Russian captivity and returned to their country.

Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this.

He stated that those released are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Guard.

According to Zelensky, among those released are servicemen who defended Ukraine in Mariupol, as well as in the directions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, and Sumy.

According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War of the Ukrainian government, most of the released servicemen were wounded and suffer from serious illnesses.

According to the information, the youngest released serviceman was born in 2000. The oldest is 59 years old.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that a total of 9,716 Ukrainians have been returned from Russian captivity since February 24, 2022.

The Ukrainian side thanked the USA and the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in organizing the exchange.
