Fuel shortages in Russia have deepened again. More than two-thirds of gas stations across the country are reported to be out of gasoline and diesel.

Modern.az reports that “Izvestiya” writes about this.

According to the information, as of August 16, only 28.1 percent of gas stations in Russia had gasoline and diesel fuel. A week ago, this figure was 41 percent.

Fuel availability is reported to have decreased in Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Voronezh, Samara, Penza, Saratov, Lipetsk and Rostov regions, as well as in Tatarstan.

During a check conducted by “Izvestiya” on August 17 in Moscow and Moscow region, it was determined that out of 21 gas stations, only 7 had AI-92, 6 had AI-95, and 5 had AI-98 gasoline.

A source who spoke to “The Insider” said that while driving from the northeast of Moscow towards the region, he did not encounter any gas stations with gasoline.

A new wave of fuel shortages in Russia is noted to have started in August. Previously, at the end of July, the Russian authorities announced that the situation in the fuel market had stabilized.

However, from August 10 to 15, restrictions on gasoline sales were re-enforced or tightened in at least 6 regions.

The fuel crisis in Russia is reported to have been ongoing since the end of May. One of the main reasons for the crisis is linked to the consequences of a series of attacks by Ukraine on Russian oil refineries.

According to the information, in spring and summer, the refining process was fully or partially stopped at at least 16 oil refineries in Russia. Among them are the Volgograd, Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Moscow, Saratov and Syzran oil refineries.
