The administration of US President Donald Trump has temporarily suspended the processing of applications for immigration visas as part of its ongoing immigration policy.

According to the department official, a global training event has begun at all US embassies and consulates around the world. For this reason, the acceptance of applications for visa services and the scheduling of appointments will be readjusted until the training is completed. Reuters notes that the Donald Trump administration is conducting a large-scale campaign to tighten immigration policy and increase deportations in the US. Within the framework of this policy, the cancellation of visas and green cards, as well as the rejection of visa applications for various reasons, are being implemented.
It is noted that in some cases, the political views of individuals and their participation in protests supporting Palestine are also cited as reasons for the rejection of applications. The US administration states that these measures serve to strengthen the country's internal security.
Previously, on August 25, the Associated Press, citing US State Department documents and American officials, wrote that the Trump administration was preparing for the largest mass visa cancellation in the country's history. It was reported that this process could affect up to 200,000 foreigners who had applied for asylum.
According to the US State Department, approximately 175,000 visas have been revoked in the last 18 months, including visas for individuals convicted or accused of committing crimes, as well as those who openly criticized US policy.
The Department announced that it will continue to use the visa revocation mechanism as a means of immigration control and will identify foreigners who may pose a threat to the United States. The Trump administration had previously indefinitely suspended the issuance of immigration visas to citizens of 75 countries, including Russia.
During his election campaign, Donald Trump promised that upon his return to the presidency, he would launch the largest campaign of illegal migrant deportations in US history. According to The Washington Post, the administration planned to remove up to 1 million migrants from the country in the first year of his presidency.
In 2025, the US State Department revoked more than 100,000 visas issued to foreigners. Among them, approximately 8,000 student visas were reported.
