Every brain-dead patient in the intensive care unit is considered a potential donor.

Modern.az reports that the organs of every person admitted to intensive care are checked. Information about them is displayed in a unified system. In the event of death, representatives of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation conduct negotiations with the patient's closest relatives. However, in some cases, organs may be taken by the Center without any permission.

Thus, there are 12 pairs of cranial nerves in the brain and tests that check the activity of these nerves. If brain death is confirmed after a patient in intensive care passes all tests, their family is informed about it. However, at this time, neither the p is given to the family nor are its organs taken. After 12 hours, a reanimatologist and a neuropathologist repeat the tests. If the person is truly living only by being connected to an artificial respiration machine and by medications that prevent the heart from stopping, their death is confirmed. The reanimatologist does not have the authority to say anything to the patient's relative about transplantation. Representatives of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation come and speak with one of the potential donor's closest relatives, and if the relative gives permission, a specially approved document indicating the donation of the p's organs by the relative is presented.

It should also be noted that if a person who experiences brain death in intensive care has previously indicated their wish to donate their organs by visiting the website  odtkm.gov.az , then permission is not obtained from the family of that p; they are merely informed, and the organs are taken by the Center. In no case should individuals who do not wish to donate their organs also visit the website and declare this. Thus, there are two registries in the Unified Information System. One is for those who wish to be donors, and the other is for those who do not wish to be donors. Even if a citizen registered as not wishing to be a donor experiences brain death, permission is not obtained from their relatives regarding the removal of organs.
