The text of the new Armenian constitution will be ready within the next 6 months.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the country's Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan at a press conference.
According to her, the final review of the Constitution text is planned for March, and the established deadline will not be reconsidered.
We will not deviate from the previously set deadlines. By then, the text will be ready, and we will publish it.
The Minister stated that no change in the form of government is envisaged in the new Armenian constitution. Armenia will remain a parliamentary republic.
Srbuhi Galyan also informed journalists that the date of the constitutional referendum has not yet been determined, but it will take place after the parliamentary elections to be held in June.
It should be recalled that the Armenian constitution adopted on July 5, 1995, is considered the biggest obstacle to peace. This is because the text of the supreme law refers to the Declaration of Independence, which contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has repeatedly emphasized to official Yerevan the importance of amending its constitution regarding this issue.
