Today, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Julien de Frepon, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Marian de Jong, were separately summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
This was reported to Modern.az-a by the MFA.
It was noted that during the meetings, strong protest was expressed against the documents adopted by the Belgian and Dutch Parliaments on April 16, 2026, which are further irresponsible attempts aimed at undermining Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
It was emphasized that the documents were prepared in accordance with completely false and unfounded assessments, demonstrating a deep-rooted anti-Azerbaijani bias within these institutions.
It was noted that the unacceptable claims contained in the documents constitute a gross violation of international law and a clear interference in the rule of law.
In addition, during the meetings, all unfounded accusations regarding false references to Azerbaijan's sovereign territories, as well as the alleged violation of Armenia's territorial integrity, the rights of persons of Armenian origin, and their alleged illegal detention, were resolutely and strongly rejected.
It was brought to the attention of the ambassadors that the adoption of the documents is particularly paradoxical as it coincided with the recent meeting between the Speakers of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments.
The Belgian and Dutch sides were called upon to take effective measures to prevent anti-Azerbaijani groups in their respective parliaments from harming bilateral relations.
