European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Syria later this week.
Modern.az reports that European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho announced this.
It is noted that von der Leyen will visit Syria as part of her Middle East tour, and within this tour, she will also visit Jordan and Lebanon.
The European Commission President's visit to Syria coincides with a time when the international community is trying to support fragile reconstruction efforts one year after the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
