“We have observed articles circulating in the local media claiming that the U.S. has suspended all types of visas for citizens of 75 countries, including Azerbaijan. We state that this information does not reflect the truth.”
Modern.az reports that the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan issued this statement.
The Embassy stated that the aforementioned suspension applies only to immigrant (permanent residency) visas and does not apply to non-immigrant visa applications for tourist, business travel, student, and exchange programs.
“The acceptance of non-immigrant visa applications continues at the U.S. Embassy in Baku,” the statement emphasized.
It should be recalled that the U.S. Department of State is temporarily suspending the acceptance of visa applications for citizens of 75 countries. The decision will come into force on January 21, and the duration of the restrictions has not yet been announced. The decision covers a wide geographical area, from Russia to Iran, and from Brazil to Somalia. Azerbaijan is also included in the list.
