US President Donald Trump has once again made ironic statements regarding French President Emmanuel Macron. Modern.az reports that this time the statement was made during a meeting of the US government.

Trump recalled the tough negotiations he had with European leaders on the prices of US-made medicines in the European market. In this context, he cited his conversation with Macron as an example.

According to the US president, the issue of increasing drug prices was discussed during that negotiation. Trump stated that Macron initially strongly objected to this proposal.

“I spoke with Macron. He wasn't wearing sunglasses at the time. He said, 'No, Donald, I won't do it. You want me to double the price of medicines. I won't even consider it.' I then said, 'If you don't, I will impose a 25 percent tariff on you.' And he replied, 'I will.' The conversation ended there,” – Trump said.

It should be noted that on January 28, during his speech to supporters in Iowa, Trump also sarcastically commented on the French president's appearance in sunglasses.
