The European Commission has commented on Ursula von der Leyen's statements regarding Turkey.
Modern.az reports that it was noted that mentioning Turkey means recognizing its geopolitical influence, scale and ambitions, especially its role in the Western Balkans, and this is not intended to be compared with any other country.
The statement emphasized that the European Union considers Turkey an important partner both economically and politically, and cooperation in transport links and migration is particularly prominent.
It was stated that Turkey is also an important NATO ally and a candidate country for the European Union, which makes it one of the main partners for dialogue.
It should be recalled that earlier Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union should form a space that would not be under the influence of countries such as the Russian Federation, Turkey and the People's Republic of China.
