US military operations against Iran have been ongoing for nearly two months, and by law, the president cannot continue a war for more than 60 days without the consent of Congress.
Modern.az reports, citing "The New York Times", that after May 1, Trump will have three main options: to appeal to Congress for the continuation of military operations, to gradually cease operations, or to try to circumvent existing restrictions by other means.
It is reported that US bombings against Iran began on February 28. Trump explained this step by the protection of US military bases in the Middle East and the assurance of the country's vital national interests.
The President also stated that these operations served the collective defense of regional allies, including Israel.
It is noted that Trump officially informed Congress on March 2, and the 60-day period is calculated from this date. This period ends on May 1, and a final decision is expected by that time.
