Although the Armenian leadership promised not to take steps against Russia during recent visits, these promises have not been kept.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a statement to journalists.

“The Armenian leadership assured Moscow during recent visits that no steps would be taken against Russia. If this is the case, then the Armenian leadership is not keeping its promises not only to Moscow and Russian citizens, but in general,” she emphasized.

Zakharova also claimed that Armenia created a “platform” for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and stated that this was met with dissatisfaction in Russian society.

According to her, the Russian public reacted negatively to Armenia’s high-level reception of Zelensky, despite Armenia previously being considered a “brotherly and friendly country.”

“Zelensky used this attitude of the Armenian leadership to once again make Russophobic statements. It was his visit to Yerevan that showed Armenian citizens the future that the European Union has prepared for them,” Zakharova noted.

It should be noted that a number of important international events were held in Yerevan this week. The summit of the European Political Community, the Armenia-European Union meeting took place in the city, and French President Emmanuel Macron also paid a state visit to Armenia.
