Apple's delay in updating its AI-powered Siri has cost the company dearly. The company has reached a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed by shareholders.

Modern.az reports that the "TechCrunch" platform has released information about this.

Apple first introduced major updates for Siri within the framework of "Apple Intelligence" at the WWDC 2024 event. The company stated that Siri would now execute smarter commands within applications, understand user context, and become a more functional virtual assistant with AI support. Apple even actively demonstrated these functions in advertising videos and marketing materials. However, months passed, and the promised Siri functions were not released. This led shareholders to file a lawsuit against Apple. According to the lawsuit, the company created false expectations among users and investors by advertising non-existent AI functions.

According to information released by "The Financial Times," the parties have reached a $250 million settlement. Under the agreement, users who purchased eligible iPhone models in the US will be able to receive a minimum of $25 in compensation for each device. If the number of applicants is small, the payment amount per device could increase to $95.

The compensation program includes devices purchased in the US between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, that support Apple Intelligence. These include the entire iPhone 16 series, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Users who wish to submit a claim must provide the device's serial number, proof of purchase, phone number, and Apple account information. Apple stated that the application process will begin within 45 days from May 5, 2026.
