In China, the construction of ordinary high-rise buildings usually takes months, even years. Concrete is poured layer by layer, different work brigades work in stages, and projects are often delayed. However, in January 2024, a completely different construction process was carried out in Xiangyin district, Hunan province.

Modern.az reports that a team of about 100 people arrived at the site with mobile and tower cranes. Modules resembling large shipping containers were brought to the construction site. Each module was 12 meters long, 3 meters high, and 2.4 meters wide.

Workers lifted these modules with a crane, bolted them together, and stacked them to form the building. There was no concrete pouring, brickwork, or long-term assembly processes as in traditional construction.

On January 7, 2024, the first module was installed, and by January 11, a fully completed 26-story residential building was ready. This building, called "Jingdu Holon Building," is not an empty structure — electrical and water systems were pre-installed.

The company "Broad Group Holon," which carried out the project, created 14,000 square meters of living space. The building has 208 apartments pre-furnished and with interior design.

Rapid industrial construction

The main reason for this speed is the abandonment of the traditional construction model. The company manufactures a large part of the apartments in the factory and only assembles them on site.

Each module is a fully finished block made of stainless steel. Electrical wiring, piping systems, and interior finishing work are completed in the factory, and then the modules are transported.

According to reports, the production line can produce one module every 21 minutes.

Instead of concrete, the company uses a multi-layered stainless steel structure called "B-CORE." This material is both corrosion-resistant and increases seismic stability.

According to company representatives, this technology allows buildings to behave more flexibly during an earthquake and reduces destructive effects.

Claim of "1000-year lifespan"

The company management claims that the building can last for more than 1000 years. Although this is currently an unproven prediction, the longer lifespan of stainless steel compared to concrete is cited as the basis.

Fully ready-to-live apartments

The apartments have an area of 68 square meters and come out of the factory fully renovated. They are equipped with heating and sound insulation, an energy-efficient ventilation system, and special double-glazed windows.

Residents only need to bring household appliances. A water filtration system is also installed in the building, ensuring that the water is directly drinkable.

The future of modular construction

The main idea of the project is that the building can be dismantled and moved to another location if needed. The modules can be reassembled, turning the structure into a "mobile asset."
