The scandal surrounding the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Turkey remains the event of the day.
On May 24, CHP chairman Özgür Özel was removed from the party headquarters with police intervention. In an address to his supporters, he said that even if they leave the CHP central headquarters, they will return.
These events occur against the backdrop of a court ruling that declared a decision made at the CHP's 38th congress in 2023 as "absolutely invalid" ("mutlak butlan"). With the court's decision, Özgür Özel, who was elected chairman of the CHP at the 38th congress, was removed from his post, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was reinstated to leadership.
Now, in Turkey, all eyes are on Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: when will he go to the CHP's central headquarters?
Modern.az reports that Turkish media is closely following the developments around the CHP.
It is reported that there is great interest in when Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will go to the CHP headquarters.
Sources close to Kılıçdaroğlu say that this will not be postponed until after Eid al-Adha.
"Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's visit to the CHP headquarters may not be postponed until after the holiday. But when will this happen? Of course, we must look at the holiday rituals in Ankara and the customs that political parties adhere to during holidays. There are holiday greeting programs in Ankara. Political leaders exchange greetings with organizations and staff at the headquarters. In this context, it is stated that Kılıçdaroğlu may go to the CHP central headquarters during the holiday period, before the holiday, and hold a holiday program. Details on how and on which day of the holiday this program will take place will be discussed today. Kılıçdaroğlu and his supporters will make evaluations regarding the holiday," CNN Türk reported.
It is noted that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu followed the recent events at the CHP headquarters from his home. According to information, Kılıçdaroğlu is currently in his office. It is reported that some deputies, mayors, and CHP members will visit Kılıçdaroğlu in his office.
"Kılıçdaroğlu may go to the CHP headquarters during the holiday period, not after the holiday. On the first day of the holiday, or the second day? This is not yet clear. It is expected that the issue will be clarified with the work to be done today. In the capital Ankara, political parties hold holiday greetings. Inter-party holiday greetings are not at the leader level, but at the staff level. However, Kılıçdaroğlu is expected to hold a holiday greeting program with both the staff and the party organization during the holiday," CNN Türk writes.
After a day full of events in the capital Ankara, cleaning work continues at the CHP headquarters.
