The US's ongoing "military adventures" in the region mean that any agreement is impossible.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Iranian Armed Forces.
On the night of May 26, the US army struck two boats and a missile launcher belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "for defensive purposes."
Ebrahim Zolfaqari, an official representative of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, wrote on the social network X after the US strikes on southern Iran:
“The US government has repeatedly shown that it only understands the language of force. Prepare for $200 oil!”
On the night of May 26, US forces struck two Iranian boats and an anti-aircraft missile system located in the port of Bandar Abbas. The US side stated that the boats were mining the Strait of Hormuz, and the missile system was targeting American aircraft. Washington called these attacks "defensive" and announced that the ceasefire remained in effect.
Reuters reported that US strikes on Iran caused Brent crude oil futures to rise by more than 1% at the beginning of Asian trading, with the price reaching $97.32 per barrel.
The ceasefire regime between the US and Iran, announced in early April, remains in effect. Later, US President Donald Trump extended it indefinitely until a special order. However, in May, the parties exchanged strikes in the Strait of Hormuz: Iran considered this a violation of the ceasefire, while Trump called the combat operations a "friendly kick."
In recent days, negotiations between Iran and the US have intensified. The parties are preparing a final agreement that will extend the ceasefire for another 60 days. At the same time, Donald Trump stated on May 19 that there was "one hour" left until the resumption of strikes, but he was asked to "wait a few more days" because Tehran was "acting reasonably." Later, the US leader called the negotiations constructive but urged not to rush with the agreement to avoid mistakes.
