The government of Burkina Faso has decided to cut diplomatic relations with France as of June 26.

Modern.az reports with reference to the "Le Faso" portal that the communiqué issued by the government states that this decision was made after a comprehensive assessment of the state of relations between the two countries. The document notes that the necessary conditions for the development of relations based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, non-interference in internal affairs and respect for state sovereignty no longer exist between the parties.

The government of Burkina Faso claims that France's policy is contrary to the interests of the country. The communiqué alleges that Paris “demonstrated neocolonial tendencies” and also supported subversive and terrorist networks operating in the Sahel region. In addition, it is emphasized that the French media and officials present information about Burkina Faso in a biased manner, and this is intended to damage the country's reputation in the international arena.

The statement says that Burkina Faso is determined to continue an independent foreign policy course, diversify international partnerships, expand South-South cooperation, build balanced relations with all states, as well as contribute to the promotion of peace, security and sustainable development.
