The US is starting an unprecedented "economic war" against Iran.
Modern.az reports that US President Donald Trump stated this on his "Truth Social" platform.
"No one has created a greater opportunity for the Islamic Republic of Iran to conclude an agreement than I have. Unfortunately, they could not take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore, today I announce the harshest economic operation ever carried out against any country! This will be an economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale.
Their navy is gone, their air force is destroyed, their military factories are in ruins, their currency is worthless, and their country hangs by a thread.
Today I also announce that any country whose financial institutions, companies, airports, or government structures support Iran in any way will itself face enormous economic consequences.
Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, currency exchange points, ship registries, mercenary companies - all of this must now stop. You know who is meant.
We need all our allies to stand with the United States to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat.
They are cornered, and these historic measures will paralyze them and their ability to spread terror around the world.
Iran will never have nuclear weapons."
