Spain national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has announced the squad for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
Modern.az reports that no players from "Real Madrid", the second in the Spanish La Liga, were included in the squad.
Goalkeepers: Unai Simon (“Athletic”), David Raya (“Arsenal”), Joan Garcia (“Barcelona”).
Defenders: Pedro Porro (“Tottenham”), Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill (both “Atletico”), Aymeric Laporte (“Athletic”), Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia (both “Barcelona”), Marc Cucurella (“Chelsea”), Alejandro Grimaldo (“Bayer”).
Midfielders: Rodri ("Manchester City"), Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino (both "Arsenal"), Gavi, Pedri, Daniel Olmo (all "Barcelona"), Fabian Ruiz (PSG).
Forwards: Alex Baena (“Atletico”), Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal (both “Barcelona”), Nico Williams (“Athletic”), Yeremy Pino (“Crystal Palace”), Mikel Oyarzabal (“Real Sociedad”), Victor Munoz (“Osasuna”), Borja Iglesias (“Celta Vigo”).
In the group stage, Spain will face Cape Verde (June 15), Saudi Arabia (June 21) and Uruguay (June 27). Before that, Spain will play two friendly matches against Iraq (June 4) and Peru (June 9).
