The son of Azerbaijani journalist Idrak Abbasov, who lives in Norway, has been called up for military service in the Armed Forces of that country.
Modern.az reports that the journalist's wife, Yegana Abbasova, stated this.
“Today, our dear son is setting off to fulfill his duty for our new homeland, Norway. As a mother and father, this moment fills us with pride. He is no longer just our child, but also a soldier who will serve the country.
He is starting military service – he will contribute to the protection of Norway's and NATO's borders. This is a great honor for us. From the bottom of my heart, I wish that the world lives in peace and security, and that no mother has to send her child off in uncertain times. I hope that all conflicts will one day be resolved peacefully.
I hope that our son Jonas will also contribute to this with his service. We are proud of him, and I wish that he always be safe and that his path always be bright”.
Idrak Abbasov worked as a journalist in Azerbaijan from the late 90s to the mid-2000s – he worked for the newspapers "Impuls", "Ayna-Zerkalo", and collaborated with other media outlets. He moved to Norway with his family in 2015. Seven years later, they were granted Norwegian citizenship as a family. The journalist has 1 daughter and 3 sons.
I. Abbasov currently collaborates with local media in Norway, including the newspaper “Bø Blad”.
