Discussions on border delimitation and enclaves between Azerbaijan and Armenia continue. Last year, within the framework of the delimitation process, the villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili of Gazakh, which were under the control of Armenia, were returned to Azerbaijan. In addition, the issue of 4 Azerbaijani enclaves remaining in the territory of Armenia and 1 Armenian enclave under the control of Azerbaijan remains on the agenda.
It should be noted that our enclaves currently remaining in Armenia are:
-Karki (Sadarak district)
-Yukhari Askipara (Gazakh district)
-Sofulu (Gazakh district)
-Barkhudarly (Gazakh district)
In his statement to Modern.az, political scientist Farhad Mammadov, curator of the "Peace Bridge" Initiative, stated that "Our 4 enclaves remaining on the Armenian side, their 1 enclave in our territory, and at the same time, the determination of a large part of the border are part of a large process.
"Currently, work is being carried out in two parts as a priority. The agreed issue is that the delimitation process will be from north to south, that is, from the point where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia meet, downwards.
The second point is related to the TRIPP project. When it starts to be implemented, the entrances and exits of communications must be delimited so that construction work can be carried out there.
At a later stage, the issue of these villages must be resolved. Several options are being considered here. When the time comes, agreements will be implemented."
