The number of people killed as a result of strong earthquakes in Venezuela has exceeded 230, and the number of injured is more than 4,300.
Modern.az reports that "Interfax" spread information citing Venezuelan Minister of Health Carlos Alvarado.
According to the minister, as of 7:00 p.m. local time, more than 4,300 victims have received medical assistance.
"Unfortunately, 235 patients brought to our medical facilities showed no signs of life or died upon arrival at the hospital," Alvarado said on Venezuelan television.
He noted that most of the victims suffered minor injuries. However, there are also those with moderate and severe injuries, many of whom underwent surgical intervention.
It should be recalled that previously it was reported that at least 188 people died and 1,520 people were injured as a result of the earthquakes.
It should be noted that three earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2, 7.5, and 4.5 were recorded in Venezuela on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The state of La Guaira, located in the north of the country, suffered the most damage. A state of emergency has been declared in the region, rescuers continue search and rescue operations, and damage assessment is being carried out.
