Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during a meeting held the previous day, he proposed to US President Donald Trump to provide Ukraine with a 30-50 year security guarantee.

Modern.az reports that he made this statement in an interview with journalists this morning.

"I told him that we are already at war, and this has been going on for approximately 15 years. Therefore, I would very much like the guarantees to be for a longer period. And I told him that we would like to consider the possibility of 30-40-50 years. And this would be a historic decision by President Trump," Zelenskyy stated.

According to him, Trump stated that he would consider it.

The Ukrainian President noted that the US had clearly informed him that security guarantees would not be permanent. However, after the meeting of the negotiating groups, both sides agreed that Ukraine would receive strong guarantees.

“The documents state that it is envisioned for a period of 15 years with the possibility of extension,” Zelenskyy noted.

It should be noted that during the joint address by Zelenskyy and Trump, the Ukrainian president stated that security guarantees from the US had been 100% agreed upon, but he did not specify what they would entail.

Zelenskyy also announced that meetings with European leaders would be held in the coming weeks to finalize the agreement.

Following this, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of Volunteer Countries in January to finalize each state's contribution to security guarantees for Ukraine.

The fate of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Donbas has not yet been resolved.
