Armenia obtains significant economic benefits from the import of gasoline and diesel fuel from the territory of Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in the information provided by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
Thus, the increase in the volume of fuel obtained from Azerbaijan to 7 thousand tons and the expansion of the fuel assortment have already led to an average reduction of 80 drams in retail prices. This reduction has indirectly and directly decreased costs for households, enterprises, and the agricultural sector.
It was noted that the total savings could amount to approximately 16.4 billion drams (42 million dollars). Farmers alone could save approximately 1.1 billion drams (2.6 million dollars) during spring field work. Another factor was the reduction of wholesale fuel prices by other importers due to competition. The import of fuel from both Russia and Azerbaijan prevents the risk of dependence.
The first fuel from Azerbaijan was dispatched to Armenia on December 18, 2025.
