Government resigns in Kazakhstan - Tokayev's decision

The government of Kazakhstan has resigned.

Modern.az reports with reference to Kazakh media that the relevant decree was signed by the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The decision was made in accordance with Article 69, paragraph 1 of the Constitution of Kazakhstan and Article 4 of the Constitutional Law "On the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan".

According to the decree, due to the government's transfer of powers to the newly elected parliament, the current government will continue to perform its duties until the composition of the new government is approved. The resigned government is led by Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov.

However, some ministers in the government may retain their positions. In this case, it is stated that they will be re-appointed to the new government.
