Mamuka Mdinaradze, one of the most influential representatives of Georgia's ruling "Georgian Dream" party and Deputy Prime Minister, has announced his decision to leave politics.
Modern.az reports that Mdinaradze made this statement at a briefing held at the government administration on August 27.
According to the 48-year-old politician, he made this decision himself and finalized it in recent weeks. Before his announcement, he had a long meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, and on Thursday morning, he met with Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of the "Georgian Dream."
"I have decided to leave my position and politics in general," Mdinaradze said.
He attributed the main reason for his departure from politics to fatigue after 10 years of political activity and the high responsibility he carried:
"I tried to convince Kobakhidze and Ivanishvili to accept my decision. But currently, I need a rest. I thank my colleagues and will only be able to return to politics in exceptional cases – if the team needs my help and I have no other way out. After this, I will try to engage in business.
