The Kyrgyz government intends to complete the change of Russian-language village names by the end of 2027.
Modern.az reports that President Sadyr Japarov stated this during his meeting with residents in the Alay district of Osh region.
The head of state emphasized that the process of changing names has already begun and should be completed in the near future.
Since Sadyr Japarov took office as president in 2021, more than 15 settlements in the country have already been renamed. In particular, Voyenno-Antonovka in the Chuy region was named Kojomkul, and Semyonovka in the Issyk-Kul region was named Kojoyar-Ata.
