Representatives of Christian communities in the Iranian Parliament, in a statement addressed to Pope Leo XIV, strongly condemned the views of US President Donald Trump.
Modern.az reports that the statement expressed gratitude to the Pope for his stance on Iran being "attacked by criminal enemies." At the same time, Trump's remarks about the Pope were considered an "insult."
The document notes that deputies speaking on behalf of the Assyrian, Chaldean Catholic, Armenian Catholic, and Armenian Apostolic communities represented in the Iranian Parliament consider such expressions unacceptable.
The statement emphasized that insulting religious leaders, as well as Jesus Christ, contradicts both the principles of Christianity and the values of peace, justice, and humanism.
