Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made striking statements regarding global security and energy routes.
Modern.az reports that Zelensky touched upon the situation around the Strait of Hormuz in an interview with the German publication “Die Welt”.
He stated that the closure of the strait creates serious risks for international trade and Ukraine is ready to support the opening of this route:
“The Strait of Hormuz is closed and we want to open it. We already have experience in blockading the Black Sea. So far, no concrete request has been received from the US on this issue. Washington's attention is mainly focused on relations with Iran, they do not have time for Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian leader also expressed concern about the impact of possible military tension in the Middle East on his country's defense capabilities:
“A war scenario involving Iran could weaken international efforts and reduce arms supplies to Ukraine. In particular, there is a shortage of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. If the war lasts longer, Ukraine will have fewer weapons. We have such a difficulty now, we hope it won't get worse.”
