US President Donald Trump has stated that America will acquire Iran's highly enriched uranium reserves in one way or another. He warned that if negotiations fail, this could happen "in a much more unfriendly way."
Modern.az reports that CNN released this information.
When asked about the timing of removing highly enriched uranium, which he called "nuclear dust," from Iran, the US president refused to elaborate.
"Of course, I'm not going to tell you the timing. I can only say that if we sign an agreement, then I can talk about the timing. After we sign the agreement, we will do it together with Iran and we will get it back 100% - it will be brought to the US," Trump said.
"If we don't do that, then we will get it in another form, in a more unfriendly way. But in any case, we will achieve it."
Trump said that if negotiations do not result in an agreement by Wednesday, the US may not extend the initial ceasefire between the US and Iran. This increases the likelihood of military operations resuming.
Answering journalists' questions on the presidential plane, Trump said, when discussing whether he would extend the ceasefire or resume strikes if negotiations failed:
"Maybe I won't extend it. It's possible I won't extend it, then there will be a blockade and unfortunately, we will have to start dropping bombs again," the US president added.
According to Iranian sources familiar with the progress of the negotiations, US and Iranian delegations are expected to arrive in Pakistan this weekend and likely hold talks on Monday.
The US side has not yet confirmed whether these meetings are planned. Earlier on Friday, Trump stated that the parties were close to an agreement.
