US Navy Secretary John Phelan has resigned from his post.

Modern.az reports that Sean Parnell, a spokesman for the Navy, made the announcement.

"Secretary of the Navy John Phelan is stepping down. We wish him success in his future endeavors," Parnell said.

Phelan's duties will be temporarily performed by his first deputy, Hung Kao.
