14 people have died after a small plane crashed near Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that this was stated by the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority.
According to the information, a “Cessna 208 Caravan” type plane was performing a domestic flight from Yai city to Juba International Airport. The plane, which took off at 09:15 local time, lost contact approximately 30 minutes later. As a result of the accident, all 13 passengers and the pilot on board lost their lives.
It is reported that two of the deceased were Kenyan citizens, and the others were South Sudanese citizens.
According to preliminary estimates, unfavorable weather conditions and poor visibility caused the accident. An investigation is underway regarding the fact.
Specialists sent to the scene are working to determine the causes of the accident and to support rescue efforts.
