Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli shared a statement on his social media account regarding the confidence-building steps taken within the framework of the Turkey-Armenia normalization process.
Modern.az reports that Keçeli stated that the bureaucratic work carried out for the purpose of direct trade within the framework of the normalization process between the two countries, which has been ongoing since 2022, was completed on May 11.
According to him, under the new rules, it will now be possible to indicate the final destination or point of origin as “Armenia-Turkey” in the documents of goods sent from Turkey to Armenia via a third country or transported from Armenia to Turkey via the same route.
Keçeli also emphasized that technical and bureaucratic preparations for the opening of the Turkey-Armenia land border are continuing.
Drawing attention to Turkey's policy of peace and cooperation in the region, the Foreign Ministry official stated:
“Against the backdrop of the historic opportunity that has arisen for strengthening lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus, Turkey will continue to contribute to the development of economic relations in the region and to advancing cooperation for the benefit of all countries and peoples of the region.”
