The issue of importing liquefied gas from Iran to Armenia has been resolved, and the supply of Iranian gas to the country will begin in the coming days.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan to journalists within the framework of the election campaign of the ruling “Civil Contract” Party.
According to the minister, problems arose in the market due to the low volume of liquefied gas entering Armenia at the beginning of May.
“Our plan was to provide Armenia with a minimal volume of liquefied gas, and this has now been ensured. There is liquefied gas everywhere in Armenia,” Papoyan said.
According to him, the attaché of the Iranian Ministry of Economy informed him that the issue of gas exports has been resolved. This means that Iranian gas will be delivered to Armenia in the coming days.
The minister added that gas supplies from Russia are currently continuing without interruption. However, the price increase in Russia has also affected the Armenian market.
According to information, the price of liquefied gas in Armenia, which was 170-180 drams a month ago, has risen to 280-300 drams since mid-April.
It is noted that after the military operations of the US and Israel against Iran, Tehran stopped gas exports, and at the same time, problems arose at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint used for transportation from Russia to Armenia. For this reason, there was a gas shortage in the Armenian market.
