Air India, India's main air carrier, has canceled more than 100 weekly international flights due to rising fuel prices caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Modern.az reports about this with reference to foreign media.

According to the information, in particular, the number of flights from New Delhi to San Francisco, Paris and Toronto has been reduced.

From June, flights to Chicago, Newark, Shanghai and Singapore will be completely suspended for a period of three months. The company plans to continue reducing the number of unprofitable foreign flights due to the rise in the price of aviation fuel on the world market to 162.8 dollars per barrel.

Previously, when the price of fuel was 99 dollars per barrel, the costs of purchasing it accounted for 40 percent of the air carrier's budget.
