On May 15, 205 Ukrainian citizens were returned from Russian captivity. They were released as part of the first phase of the exchange held in the “1000 for 1000” format.
Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on his Telegram channel.
“205 Ukrainians have returned home,” the president emphasized.
“Among those released are soldiers, sergeants, and officers. Most of them had been in Russian captivity since 2022. They defended Ukraine in Mariupol and ‘Azovstal’, in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv directions, and at the Chornobyl NPP,” Zelensky said.
“I thank all partners who helped free Ukrainian prisoners. We will continue to fight for every person who remains in captivity,” the president added.
