The US and Iran are discussing a plan to open the Strait of Hormuz for shipping approximately 30 days after an agreement is reached on a cessation of hostilities.

Modern.az reports that “Nikkei” published this information, citing a diplomatic source in the Middle East.

According to the publication, during this planned 30-day transition period after the agreement is signed, Iran will undertake to completely clear the strait of naval mines. After the period ends, ships of all countries will be able to resume free and safe movement along the route, and Tehran will stop collecting transit fees.

The source added that the ceasefire regime agreed by the parties in early April will be extended for another 60 days. This two-month pause in hostilities is planned to be used for direct negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.
