The US did not support the statement prepared by Ukraine's initiative at the UN.
Modern.az reports that the document was voiced by Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Andrey Melnik, at the organization's headquarters.
The statement called for a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire, and also emphasized the importance of implementing specific humanitarian measures.
The document was signed by at least a quarter of the UN member states – 47 countries. Among the signatories were mainly European states. The US did not join the document.
