Iran has repeatedly accused the United States of violating the ceasefire regime and organizing attacks on Iranian merchant ships.
Modern.az reports that this was stated in a statement issued by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was noted that even after the ceasefire was announced, the US continued its illegal and unjust actions against Iranian merchant ships, as well as numerous acts of piracy.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also accused Washington of grossly violating the ceasefire regime around the Strait of Hormuz in the last 28 hours. It was stated that what happened was carried out against the background of the diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan, and this is another proof of the deceptive and treacherous policy of the United States.
“Iran will not tolerate any act of aggression and will take steps without hesitation to protect the country's interests,” the statement emphasized.
The US Central Command – CENTCOM – announced on May 25 that US forces carried out strikes against Iranian missile launchers and ships near the Strait of Hormuz in self-defense.
CENTCOM spokesman Timothy Hawkins told CNN that US troops conducted an operation in southern Iran to prevent threats originating from Iranian forces.
