Roman Gofman has officially started his duties as the head of Israel's "Mossad" Foreign Intelligence Service.

Modern.az reports that Dmitry Gendelman, an advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, shared this information on his "Telegram" channel.

"The appointment of Major General Roman Gofman as the head of the "Mossad" Foreign Intelligence Service is a historically significant event. This is the highest position ever held in Israel's security structures by a representative of repatriates from former Soviet Union countries," the post stated.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on his "X" social media account that in April 2024, during the most fateful period for Israel, he chose Gofman as his military secretary.

"Roman Gofman immigrated to Ashdod from Belarus with his parents Lyudmila and Vladislav at the age of 14. Roman paved his own way and overcame all difficulties," he said, emphasizing that "Mossad"'s main mission remains the fight against "Iranian aggression."
